RETIREES WORKING
MAINTENANCE
Effective with Pensions
beginning on or after July 1, 2000, an employee who retires after age 50, but
before age 55, receiving a pension under the Southern California IBEW-NECA
Pension Plan will be eligible for the Retiree Health Plan at age 55 or later,
when the working retiree ceases Covered Employment under the Maintenance
Agreement between IBEW Local Union 11 and Los Angeles County Chapter NECA,
subject to meeting all of the requirements a through c listed below.
Please note that for pensions effective on or
after September 1, 2003 (if application is received after August 1, 2003)
pension benefits will be suspended while working under the Maintenance
Agreement.
- Continuity of Employment. An employee working under
the Maintenance Agreement, as described above, must have continuity of
employment to maintain eligibility for the Retiree Health Plan. A retired
employee working under the Maintenance Agreement who has no maintenance hours
reported during any 24 consecutive months, beginning from the effective date of
retirement from the Southern California IBEW-NECA Pension Fund, will have a
break in employment, and all entitlement to the Retiree Health Plan will be null
and void.
- An employee must meet all of the eligibility requirements
for benefits under the Retiree Health Plan as provided in the Retiree Health
Plan Summary Plan Description.
- Hours worked in covered maintenance employment will be
credited toward Retiree Health Plan eligibility to meeting either of the
following requirements:
- At the time of retirement from covered maintenance
employment, employee must have accumulated at least 10,500 hours contributed to
the Retiree Health Plan in 7 of the 10 years immediately preceding the date
employee terminates maintenance employment;
or
- At the time of retirement from covered maintenance
employment, employee has accumulated at least 30,000 hours contributed to the
Retiree Health plan preceding the date employee terminated maintenance
employment.
