1. When am I a Participant in the Plan?
First, some definitions:
- A Covered Hour is an hour of work for which an Employer is required to make contributions to the Plan.
- A Plan Year is the period from July 1 to June 30.
Once your total Covered Hours earned during the current and previous Plan Year reach 750, you will become a Participant, effective on the first day of the following month.
For example:
- You begin covered employment in April, 2017;
- You work 300 hours during the period April 1, 2017 to June 30, 2017;
- You work 450 hours during the period July 1, 2017 to September, 2017.
Under the example above, you will become a Participant on October 1, 2017, as follows:
