Supplemental Unemployment Benefit Plan SPD

RETURNING TO WORK

What If I Return to Work and I am Laid Off Again?

If you return to Covered Employment, are subsequently laid off and have not worked at least 1,040 hours since you last collected Supplemental Unemployment Benefits, you may be eligible to continue your prior claim up to the maximum of 26 weeks of cumulative benefits without re-qualifying for benefits. To continue this claim, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Covered Employment Terminated: Your Covered Employment must have been terminated involuntarily due to a lack of work or reduction in workforce. You must submit a copy of your most recent layoff notice (if applicable).
  • Meet Other Requirements: Meet the requirements for timely filing and all other requirements with the exception of the 1,040 hour provision which you met when your benefits first commenced. All other exceptions, exclusions and eligibility requirements apply to your claim for benefits including but not limited to receipt of California Unemployment Insurance benefits.
