To obtain a prescription as outlined in this section for a fixed co-payment, you must use a network pharmacy.  The pharmacy network is extensive and includes most major chains and many independent pharmacies. A listing of the California network pharmacy chains is included at the end of this section. An up to date listing of nationwide pharmacies can also be found online at www.rxsolutions.com or you can call Prescription Solutions Customer Service toll free line, 1-800-797-9791 to find a pharmacy near you.

You simply pay directly to the pharmacy a co-payment for each prescription. The Plan allows up to a 30-day supply, or 100-day supply if a maintenance drug is prescribed by your doctor. As a cost-containment feature, the Plan requires that you use a generic drug substitute when it is available.

Here's how the Walk-In Pharmacy Plan works:

  • When your doctor issues you a prescription, you must have it filled by a participating pharmacy in the preferred network.
  • Go to a network pharmacy and present your prescription. Tell the pharmacist you are eligible under the Southern California IBEW-NECA Retiree Health Plan and that Prescription Solutions is the processor. The pharmacist will then ask for identification and the Social Security number of the Retiree eligible under the Southern California IBEW-NECA  Retiree Health Plan. With this information, the drug benefit can be processed by computer at the network pharmacy and there is no need for you to file a claim.
  • You will then pay your $0 Generic or $10 Brand co-payment for a 30-day supply.  The co-payment is $0 generic/$20 brand for maintenance drugs with a 100-day supply.  The Southern California IBEW-NECA Retiree Health Plan pays the rest and there is no need for you to file a claim.
  • It is important to note, however, that if the prescription calls for a brand name, the pharmacist will dispense the generic drug whenever a generic equivalent is in stock and may legally be substituted for the prescribed brand name.

If you or your doctor requests a brand name drug instead of a generic equivalent, you will be charged the difference in cost between the brand name drug and the generic, in addition to the $10 co-payment for a 30 day supply and a $20 co-payment for a 100 day supply of maintenance medications.
