Notice of HIPAA Privacy Practices

In the course of providing administrative services to the Southern California IBEW-NECA Active Health Plan and to the Southern California IBEW-NECA Retiree Health Plan, the Trust Fund's Administrative Offices may have access to and may use your personal health information. A federal law known as "HIPAA" regulates the ways in which the Trust Fund may access and use your personal health information (called "protected health information" in HIPAA and its regulations).

In accordance with HIPAA's requirements, the Trust Fund has developed and published a "Notice of Privacy Practices." This Notice explains how the Trust Fund may access and use your protected health information or share it with other organizations. This Notice also describes the rights you have under HIPAA regarding your protected health information and the steps the Trust Fund has taken to keep your protected health information private and to prevent uses or disclosures of your protected health information that are not allowed under HIPAA's regulations. You can find a copy of this Notice in your Plan Booklet. The Notice is also posted on the Trust Fund's web site under the "Forms" tabs for both the Active Health and the Retiree Health Plans. You may also request a written copy of this Notice from the Trust Fund's Administrative Office. If you request a copy, it will be sent to you at no cost.
