Making New Year's Dental Resolutions

This New Year, resolve to improve your overall health by paying extra attention to your oral health. Below are tips that will give you something to smile about in the New Year.

Incorporate good dental hygiene into your daily routine. Pack your toothbrush and floss, just like you do your gym bag or healthy lunch box.

Change your toothbrush at the first of the year then set a reminder on your phone for 3, 6, and 9 months out. It's recommended that you change your toothbrush 3-4 times per year. Have extras on hand just in case someone gets sick to replace after their illness.

Buy a water bottle you love. Drinking water between meals can help keep your mouth clean and your body happy.

Find a meaningful reason to practice good oral care. Sticking to a goal is easier when you make it personal. Be a good model of dental health for your children. Set a time to brush together.

Make a point to remember 2 X– 1X – 2X. Brush your teeth twice a day. Floss once a day. Visit your dentist twice a year. If you're looking for a new dentist, set up an account on My Dental Benefits and use the Find a Dentist tool.

Good oral care is important every day of the year but if you need a reason to revisit your habits, there's no better time than the start of the New Year.
